KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Razak has reassured Malaysians that they would be able to practice their religion in comfort in their respective houses of worship.

The prime minister, who visited several houses of worship near Kuching during a working visit to Sarawak yesterday, said the federal and state governments would provide allocations to build and renovate mosques and churches in Sarawak.

“Thanks to Allah, (I) am able to be with residents of Taman Malihah (in Kuching) to perform the Asar prayer with them. For the comfort of the Muslims, there’s a need for a new mosque there.

“I also visited the Anglican Church in Taman Malihah and saw there’s room for improvement to make the place better for the Christians.

“The federal and state governments will provide the allocation for the building and improvement of the mosque and church,” he said in a posting on his Facebook account today.

On the second day of his official visit today, Najib will attend a ceremony to launch the construction work of the Pan Borneo Expressway which stretches from Bulatan Serian to Simpang Pantu, near Serian.
